F | NAME: Frank Edwin Longbottom AGE/BIRTHDATE: 17 years old/June 17, 1959 HOUSE/YEAR: Gryffindor/Seventh Year BLOODLINE: Pure-blood WAND: 11" Chestnut, Phoenix feather PET: Frank's pet is his black hat, Sidney, which was thrown at him by a tramp he met on the street when he was twelve. He doesn't know what possessed the tramp to throw a hat at him, but he maintains that it was the best gift he was ever given. BOGGART: He once watched an absolutely horrid film about killer birds while he was staying with his aunt and uncle, and ever since that time his Boggart has been a crow. PATRONUS: A moose FAMILY Frank's parents are Augusta and Russell Longbottom. Russell works for the Ministry in the Auror Department and Augusta is a Mediwitch at St. Mungo's. He has no siblings, although he has one female cousin with whom he is quite close, Bertha Jorkins, for he has always wanted a little sister and has adopted a few of the girls in Gryffindor as his substitutes. He occasionally stays with his uncle Algie (brother to his mother) and his aunty Enid during the summer. Algie is one of his best mates, and Frank is always amused by his somewhat odd behaviour. |
| BIOGRAPHY: Frank was born and raised in Bristol to a wealthy Pure-blood family. His mother had always longed for a son to carry on the Longbottom family name, and so she spent most of Frank's childhood pampering and coddling him in an effort to make him the best wizard he could possibly be. She dictated every detail of his life, from his clothes to his friends to his pastimes, and her adoring husband allowed her to do whatever she wished. It was an unspoken rule in the house that the Longbottom men did as they were told, and neither minded. She started teaching Frank basic magical theory years before he started at Hogwarts, made him practice Quidditch, refused to allow him to associate with any family who placed importance on blood-status, and took him travelling to many places in order for him to gain a knowledge of all magical cultures. Frank never resented her for it, as he knew that she did everything out of the goodness of her heart, and luckily for him all of the things she wanted him to do were things he found agreeable and fun. When he began to attend Hogwarts at the age of eleven, he was sorted into Gryffindor, and found to his delight that his mother's training helped him immensely in his first year. It enabled him to get and keep ahead in his classwork, and Frank has continued to employ the practice of studying a little bit ahead of the class in order to keep up, and do less work later on. However, he enjoyed having the freedom to do whatever he wanted for the first time, and developed into a much happier, more fun individual as a result. By the time he arrived home after first year was over, he had gained a little bit of independence and was able to stand up to his mother on occasion. Frank is currently in his seventh year in Hogwarts, and he plays the position of Keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. His life so far has been generally pleasant, marred only by the death of his grandparents on both sides. His ambition this year is to do well in his exams, have as much fun as possible and too 'woo' the current girl of his dreams, a Miss Alice Prewett. | |

F | PERSONALITY: Frank is a very laid-back bloke, and seldom allows anything to worry him. When those around him are flustered and panicked about classes and exams, Frank's motto is that as long as he tries his best, he can't regret the outcome. He knows that after school is finished, he will have to become a 'grown-up', so his aim is to have as much fun as possible while he is still in school, and to relax. He gets on very well with most of the people in his house, as he is good-natured and knows how to make people laugh, can take a joke and doesn't mind making fun of himself. He is good at cheering people up when they are feeling low, and would never say a bad word against any of his friends. He was brought up to have a lot of respect for women, and so he gets very annoyed when someone makes a crass comment or insults a girl in his presence, and will often step in and have a word with the offender. Some find this old fashioned of him, but he is by no means sexist, and his ideal woman would be one who can speak her mind and be as independent as possible. Frank is rather lazy sometimes, and can let himself become complacent, especially when he has been doing well in a particular class for a while, so his grades will slip and he has to work very hard to catch up. Although he is good at cheering people up by making them laugh, this is only on a superficial level. He does not like to discuss serious matters at all, they depress him, and he is a terrible advice-giver. He likes being liked, and tries too hard to appeal to everyone, often forgetting his own needs in order to attend to the needs of others. This can often leave him feeling drained and a little useless. He has got a terrible memory and is awfully flaky, so his friends cannot depend on him to remember birthdays, Hogsmeade weekends, or arrangements to meet. |
| Appearance: Frank is of average height and thin, with a round face, brown eyes and glasses. His hair is dark brown and slightly overlong, as he never does much with it and prefers to keep it tucked away in his hat. Several teachers have tried in vain to get Frank to remove 'Sidney' from his head, but he only agrees to do so during class time. When he speaks, he sometimes sounds as if he's on the verge of laughing and sometimes sounds slightly pained.
